This Oil painting workshop takes place at the new state of the art, multi-generational center, "The REC", right off main street in Historic Grapevine. The room we will be in has big windows surrounded by beautiful, inspiring scenery.

Our 2 days together will include step by step demonstrations, one on one individual easel time, and fun exercises to learn how to loosen up and create bold, colorful paintings.

I use the "Alla Prima" method of painting (working wet into wet) and I will teach you how to layer with transparent and opaque oils, and how to keep your paints from getting muddy. We will work on technique, color mixing, composition, light, and brush strokes. Students will learn to see "Impressionistically" and explore to ability to "suggest" rather than "render" the subject.

Chris will be available to meet during the New Vintage Wine and Gallery Trail on April 9th from 9am-6pm.

This course will include paint along demos, step by step instruction, and one on one easel time. I will provide the objects and reference photo for the paint along demos. Bring your own additional photos of your favorite subjects.
We will focus on oil painting technique, composition, light, brilliant color, and how to keep the color from getting muddy!
